By entering in the event, you have agreed to all decisions and policies made by the SCPGA and California State Open Committee.  The player agrees that certain risks are inherent to the game of golf and accept personal and sole liability for all such risks.

There is a $25 administrative fee for withdrawal prior to the event deadline date.  A person withdrawing from the event after the deadline date will not receive a refund regardless of reason, including those personal or medical in nature. 

While on host facility property during qualifying or championship rounds; players and caddies shall conduct themselves in a professional manner.  The SCPGA reserves the right to remove a player from the competition for; non-competitiveness, conduct unbecoming a professional by the player; conduct unbecoming a professional by the players' caddie.

In situations involving adverse weather conditions or any other occurrence or condition, our first priority is the completion of the competition.  Every effort will be made to achieve this objective by the end of the sheduled competition day.  In the event the competition cannot be completed by the end of the scheduled competitive day, play will be extended.  Every effort will be made to complete the competition as soon as possible and this may include the following day(s) or future date to be determined.

  • Top 25 finishers from the 2019 Southern California Open
  • POINTS LISTS (As of June 1, 2019) - Top 50 from the Player of the Year points list for Southern California PGA Professionals, Top 20 from other Sections, Top 10 from SCPGA Associate Professional Association (A.P.A.), Top 10 from Golden State Tour, Top 10 from SCGA, Top 10 Boys from SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup Series
  • 2019 PGA TOUR and 2019 Web.com Tour members
  • 2018 SCPGA Section, Senior Section and Assistant Champion
  • Top 30 finishers from the 2018 SCPGA Section Championship
  • 2018 SCGA Amateur Champion
  • 2018 California Golf Association Champion
  • 2018 Arizona Open Champion
  • 2019 CIF Boys State Champion
  • Top 3 finishers from the 2018 Inland Empire Amateur

The deadline date for exempt players to register is Saturday, June 15th, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. PST

** There is a June 8th deadline for Special Exemption Requests. This avenue is provided for players whose schedule and travel does not allow for Qualifying attempts or for exceptional cases only. The Committee will attempt to have the five available spaces identified and those players notified by June 17th. Those Exempt players must then register by June 21. ***Players making the cut in the 2019 California State Open will be exempt from qualifying into the 2020 Southern California Open

156 player maximum field size. There will be no exceptions and field will not be expand.

Players shall present a neat appearance in both clothing and personal grooming.  The Tournament Director shall interpret this regulation in all individual cases.

Contestants must wear slacks and proper golf attire, SHORTS ARE NOT ALLOWED. 

Denim, cargo pants, and t-shirts are also NOT allowed. 


Caddies: While on the host facility property, caddies may wear either long pants or tailored solid colored knee length shorts.  Blue jeans, cutoffs, T-shirts or shirts with no collar shall not be worn.  Smooth bottom, rubber sole shoes are required. Sandals, open toe shoes, and golf shoes with traditional metal or soft spikes are prohibited.

Players and caddies may ride in golf cars.  Cart fees ($TBD per person) are the responsibility of the player. Maximum of 2 carts per group, no exceptions. Participants take priority in riding in golf car.

The official practice round will be on Monday, June 24th which is included in the entry fee. The course will become available at 11:00 A.M., and will be an open tee (first come/first serve) basis. Please visit the golf shop if you wish to rent a golf car during your round.

 

Any additional practice rounds are at the availability starting June 9th and start times after 12:00PM; $75/player.

The 2019 California State Open purse is anticipated to be exceed $75,000.  This amount is based on qualifying and championship participation. 
 
The Official Purse will be determined the week of Championship. Overall 2019 Champion is guaranteed to take home over $8,000.

Professionals making the cut (any non-PGA Member or Apprentice) will be asked to complete a W-9 or International Claim Form prior to play beginning on Friday. Forms will be available prior to play Thursday and in the scoring area. 

Amateurs making the cut will earn scrip to the Bear Creek Golf Shop for use on merchandise.

Purse will be paid immediately following the event, so long as all W-9's have been submitted. Checks take approximately two weeks to be processed, cut and received. Direct deposit is highly encouraged to expedite payout.

The Official hotel of the California State Open is the Fairfield by Marriott of Temecula.

The rate extended to participants of the championship $94+tax/per night.

Food and beverage will be avaliable to purchase for all participants and spectators during the Championship.

Play will be conducted in accordance with the USGA Rules of Golf and the Southern California PGA Conditions of Competiton.

Local Rules will be distributed on the tee prior to play.

Pace of play: The Tournament Committee will be following the guidelines in the Section Conditions of Competition and a pace of 4:40 will be expected by all players in the field. A group taking longer than their projected time, and out of position, will be warned by the CSO Rules Committee and will be expected to regain their position with the group in front of them. A group not regaining it's position, or gaining on it's position, will subsequently be timed until they have regained that position. This policy will be strictly enforced.   

Distance measuring devices will be allowed. Devices with slope and wind calculating features are not allowed.

Players may utilize a golf cart. Golf cars will be available at the players own expense, limit two cars per group.

Thanks to Pepsi, Aquafina and Gatorade will be available on the 1st & 10th tees for players and caddies only.

Players will be expected to handle themselves as Professionals. Players must adhere to the dress code, outlined in the note on the Tournament Page, and will be expected to adhere to the highest level of etiquette and sportsmanship while at the Championship facilities.

Any breach of etiquette will be addressed by the Rules Committee, and any serious breach of etiquette during a stipulated round will result in disqualification of the player involved (Rule 33-7). A serious breach of etiquette includes, but is not limited to: drug use, profanity, abuse of the facility or it's staff, abuse of California State Open Tournament Staff or Rules Committee, etc...
